I've also completely uninstalled it and reinstalled from the disk that came with my drive and then applied the patch I found on their (Pioneer's) website. I never had a "registration code" or any of that crap printed anywhere in the package. which I stopped at after I installed the new version, and I was quickly taken to a page where they wanted more money to make my already-paid-for product work. I've tried every work-around other than "MFC error Step 2". The more I sit around and think about it, the more this smells something like a extortion. Ok so I said screw it and downloaded from that link and extracted the file and ran it (This is ON TOP of the 7 hours I've spent googling solutions from other places). I feel lucky now, if I can buy anything that claims to be "vista compatible" and dont feel like I'm being defrauded after wasting countless hours trying to get it to work. Now I have to go stand in the line of angry consumers at Fry's Return Line tomorrow. no SATA or something "noob" like that) bought it and ran out without reading the box. I thought that a bunch of people with incompatible motherboards (i.e. No wonder when I bought it, it was the only box not orange-tagged (returned by a customer and re-sold).

Actually the hardware seems to work just fine, but the software maker's QC department seems non-existent, to be releasing crap like this. Although, I bet some of them would bang their own heads into a concrete wall until it was a bloody pulp as well. I feel bad for people that aren't MCSA/MCSE certified that buy this product. I don't need to update something that Vista doesn't run. The "fix" simply doesn't apply to Vista (at least not Vista Home Premium 64). I'm having this exact same problem with the pioneer package. Also (Sorry Corel) I purchased Cyberlinks PowerDVD 7 Deluxe. I will follow this thread on the chance someone will find a solution. I can't help but wonder if there is a conflict with the program and the AMD processor. DirectX and the runntime files are properly installed. I pursued most of the suggestions in previous threads.
I completely removed all Intervideo traces in the computer system between each attempt. I used three different downloads on the chance I was getting a flawed download. I received the same results as before with the old os MFC Application Error.

The second program I attempted to install after my failure with Copy 6 was WINDVD 8. What a difference it made in the speed of computer. What I have now done is install a complete replacement operating system. Compaq had so much bloatware installed in the operating system to the degree that I was never satisfied with its performance. It is a Compaq desktop /320 HDD/1GB memory and an AMD Athlon 2.16 processor.It came new with Windows XP sp1 for an OS. Last week I completed one of the most extreme alterations to my computer that comes just short of replacing it.

To fix the problem, I backed out the updated driver with the original one that came with the Gigabyte driver disk (RealTek 6.)and the problem went away.Īnyway, hope this helps someone in the same situation.
